Special Issue Measurement System Analysis for Bounded Ordinal Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
The precision of a measurement system is the consistency across multiple measurements of the same object. This paper studies the evaluation of the precision of measurement systems that measure on a bounded ordinal scale. A bounded ordinal scale consists of a finite number of categories that have a specific order. Based on an inventory of methods for the evaluation of precision for other types of measurement scales, the article proposes two approaches. The first approach is based on a latent variable model and is a variant of the intraclass correlation method. The second approach is a non-parametric approach, the results of which are, however, rather difficult to interpret. The approaches are illustrated with an artificial data set and an industrial data set. Copyright c © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Alternative approaches to obtain t-norms and t-conorms on bounded lattices
Triangular norms in the study of probabilistic metric spaces as a special kind of associative functions defined on the unit interval. These functions have found applications in many areas since then. In this study, we present new methods for constructing triangular norms and triangular conorms on an arbitrary bounded lattice under some constraints. Also, we give some illustrative examples for t...
متن کاملYongsheng The Measurement of Diversity
The notion of diversity is an issue that is of relevance in several contexts. For example, the biodiversity of a given ecological environment and the diversity of the options available to a decision maker have attracted some attention in recent research. This paper provides an axiomatic approach to the measurement of diversity. We characterize two nested classes of ordinal measures of diversity...

The secretary problem is a classic model for online decision making. Recently, combinatorial extensions such as matroid or matching secretary problems have become an important tool to study algorithmic problems in dynamic markets. Here the decision maker must know the numerical value of each arriving element, which can be a demanding informational assumption. In this paper, we initiate the stud...
متن کاملBiometrics Recognition based on Image Local Features Ordinal Encoding
In the present informational era, with the continue extension of embedded computing systems, the demand of faster and robust image descriptors is an important issue. However, image representation and recognition is an open problem. The aim of the paper is to embrace ordinal measurements for image analysis and to apply the concept for a real problem, such as biometric identification. Biometrics ...
